Dress to Impress

While scanning through news articles today, I chanced upon an adorable piece about retirees knitting jumpers for chickens. Yes, you heard me correctly – though admittedly it was mostly the image of a chicken in a knitted jumper that first drew my attention, rather than the text.

The group of retirees in question from a Boston, Massachusetts retirement home, embarked on this somewhat zany but caring idea after hearing about how much chickens can suffer at the hands of the cold, during winter months.

Spokesperson Erica Max confirms that egg production has jumped noticeably as result of the birds wearing their cozy new outfits. Many roosters have benefited from the knitted tops so far, included one named Prince Peep (pictured with Fuller Village Retirement Home Resident Nancy Kearns). Adorable!
